A collection of works by Jules Feiffer called The World of Jules Feiffer premiered in Huntington, New Jersey in 1962. It starred Dorothy Loudon and Ronny Graham and marked the directing debut of Mike Nichols. One segment of the production was Passionella, a "mini-musical" about Ella, a chimney sweep who wants to be an actress, for which Sondheim wrote the music and lyrics. The opening number was "Truly Content." Sondheim also wrote some incidental music to George's Moon, another segment of the show.

Assassins is about how society interprets the American Dream, marginalizes outsiders and rewrites and sanitizes its collective history. "Something Just Broke" is a major distraction and plays like an afterthought, shoe horned simply to appease. The song breaks the dramatic fluidity and obstructs the overall pacing and climactic arc which derails the very intent and momentum that makes this work so compelling... - Mark Bakalor
