Norkin on Sondheim

Sam Norkin is that other theater caricaturist.

He says he has seen more rehearsals than anyone in the theater, more shows that went out of town for tryouts never to return to Broadway, and that his drawings have been seen by more readers than any other caricaturist. His work has appeared since the 1940's in the New York Daily News, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, the Chicago Tribune, the Toronto Star, and many other publications. He is a past president of the Drama Desk and recipient of special awards from the League of American Theaters and Producers and the National Cartoonists' Society.

Sam has provided Sondheim.com with an exclusive piece which can be seen by going to the home page of this website. In addition, a new, rethought version will be presented in this space when available.

Recently, Norkin shared with us the Sondheim related portion of his collection as well as anecdotes about shows, personalities, and more...

Which is not to say that it is perfect...”
